New Here

Your first evening, start to finish

Nothing is assumed and nothing is required. Here is exactly what happens, so the only unfamiliar part is the practice itself.

Before you arrive

  1. Book a spot

Reserve a drop-in online. Evenings fill most often on Mondays and Saturdays, so a day or two ahead is comfortable.

  2. Arrive ten minutes early

Come up the stairs, leave your shoes in the entry and say hello. Someone will show you where things live and set a mat up with you.

  3. Bring almost nothing

Clothes you can move in and a water bottle. Mats, bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets are all here already.

  4. Practise at your own pace

Resting is always an option and never remarked upon. If something hurts, come out of it — that instruction is meant literally.

  5. Stay for the last few minutes

Every class ends lying down in the dark for a while. It is the part most people say they came back for.

Good places to start

Any of these is a reasonable first class. Pick whichever evening suits your week.
